Harry, A History

I finished reading Harry, A History …, Melissa Anelli’s new book about the Harry Potter phenomenon and, in particular, the fandom surrounding the Potter books and films. This is a wonderful book. I had been interested in reading it, as I have been listening to Melissa on Pottercast and reading her work on The Leaky Cauldron for several years. I guess I was expecting a straight forward telling of the history of the fandom that I had a broastrokes familiarity with. I was very pleasantly surprised to find the book was an extremely moving telling of Melissa’s own experience of the fandom, while covering the historical reporting along the way. The book was very hard to put down, and I read it in just a few days. Highly recommended to anyone with even a passing interest in knowing a little more of what’s surrounding the books and films.
