As You Like It Number Three

Tonight I saw the final play in my visit to OSF this year, which turned out to be the third production of As You Like It that I have seen this summer. This production was much less light hearted than the other two, with more traditional 19th century costumes. The first half seemed a bit muddled to me, partially because of some gender bending choices in casting. The second half got much better. The chemistry between the two leads was very good, and in the end it turned out enjoyable. It’s always tough to see the same play three times in one summer, and these three were better than in some past years. This was a good visit to Ashland even though surprisingly as I saw seven plays, only three were Shakespeare.
