Yucatán 2022 — After the Tour

In contrast to what happened in 2020 with the exploding Covid crisis, after this year’s tour, I ended up staying in Mérida for 5 days just being a tourist. Mostly I walked around exploring the sights in the downtown area, tried some local restaurants, and just relaxed at my Airbnb. I also got to experience a day of torrential rains that left the streets flooded for a while. One day I connected up with Humberto, and we went to lunch, and then we went to the Mayan History Museum. Afterward, we stopped by his architect’s office to allow him to make some decisions on his new house, which gave me a little insight into normal business life in Mérida. Humberto was participating in the follow-up UTadventure tour, but he kindly arranged for his driver to take me to get a Covid test later in the week before I had to fly home. I messed it up a bit by specifying a PCR and not an antigen test, so he had to help me out by making sure I would have the results in time to fly. Thankfully it all worked out. My trip home went smoothly after a very enjoyable time spent in Mérida.
