I attended a workshop run by local art model Vivian Cove, with whom I’ve worked a number of times,in a workshop at a beautiful home in Cupertino. The home, a very modern style with a beautiful view, was owned by Vivian’s partner, an engineering leader at Apple, who had played a significant role in designing it. The workshop went under the heading Viv’s Art + Figure Photo Workshops — Unleash Your Creative Vision. Along with some instruction it featured two models: Jennifer Jones, who I know, and Her Stillness Dances, who I knew of but had not worked with before. Both of them are somewhat local to the Bay Area and were great to work with. There were 3 other local photographers who attended, none of whom I knew before.
I got some useful insights from the lecture discussion, and we also had the opportunity to shoot with the models and try to apply what we had learned. It was a fun and useful workshop. It was a bit of a challenge getting there as the Bay Area had been hit by a particularly strong rain storm with lots of rain, and in fact a couple of photographers who had originally planned to attend had to cancel.
