I journeyed through morning traffic over to the Pacific coast and down south of Half Moon Bay to meet up with Jennifer Jones. It was a bit of a drive, but it was nice to see the ocean again. However, it’s also interesting to see the mood change in leaving the sunny inland and arriving at the gray cloudy coast. We met up at Bean Hollow State Beach and took some pictures among the interesting rock structures that had been carved out by the wind and sea. Interestingly (small world) we ran into Eva Luna who was also at the beach, down on a visit from Portland.
After a couple of hours at the beach we headed inland to explore some redwoods. We went to Butano State Park and took a nice hike along Little Butano Creek and went a ways up the Mill Ox Trail. It was a beautiful, peaceful area. The sun just started breaking through the clouds as we were about to leave.
Afterwards, we headed back into Pescadero and had a nice (late) lunch at a surprisingly good local restaurant. I headed back home, again encountering rush hour traffic. All-in-all an enjoyable day that ended up being 11 hours from the time I left until I returned home.
